Non-Tenure Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Biology (Neurobiology and Physiology)

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. We are seeking passionate and accomplished educators with expertise in Biology.

We welcome candidates with a strong teaching and research background in one or more of the following fields:

  • Neuroscience (including systems, cellular, or cognitive neuroscience)
  • Neuropharmacology (with emphasis on drug-nervous system interactions and receptor signaling)
  • Physiology
  • Biochemistry (focused on neurotransmitters, synaptic proteins, and enzyme kinetics)

The successful candidate will contribute to the School's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs and may also engage in pedagogical research or collaborative scientific research. We particularly value candidates who bring innovative teaching methods, a commitment to student development, and a collaborative spirit.

SBS is searching for individuals with a well-defined research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.

Emoluments

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Biology, such as Neurobiology, Physiology, Neuropharmacology, and Biochemistry.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, course coordination, and pedagogical innovation within the School of Biological Sciences.
  • Engage in student mentoring and academic advising to support student learning and development.
  • Incorporate research-informed teaching practices and foster active learning in the classroom.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university service activities, including outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines on teaching and educational development projects.
  • For Senior Lecturer appointments: provide academic leadership in teaching, mentoring of junior educators, or oversight of educational programs.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biology, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise in one or more of the following:
    - Neurobiology (e.g., systems, cellular, or cognitive neuroscience)
    - Neuropharmacology (e.g., drug-nervous system interactions, receptor signaling)
    - Biochemistry (e.g., neurotransmitters, synaptic proteins, enzyme kinetics)
  • A strong commitment to teaching excellence and student-centered learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience in curriculum design, innovative pedagogy, or use of educational technology.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as student evaluations, peer reviews, or teaching awards.
  • Interest in or experience with education-focused research or scholarship of teaching and learning is advantageous.
