Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Network Operations Engineer to support and maintain the network infrastructure within our data centers. The role involves both physical and technical troubleshooting, collaboration with remote and cross-functional teams, and ensuring the stability and efficiency of network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Physically troubleshoot various network components in the infrastructure, including routers, switches, console servers, and optical transport equipment.
- Provide onsite network support and technical expertise for all teams in the local data center, acting as a liaison with remote networking teams.
- Perform hands-on replacement of optics, line cards, supervisor cards, and chassis hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve network link, device, and configuration issues by isolating root causes and implementing fixes.
- Create and manage RMA requests through OEM vendors for replacement devices and technical assistance.
- Track, maintain, and update asset inventory for defective and replacement parts.
- Trace and isolate cables through patch panels, test, and clean fiber optic cables and optical interfaces.
- Schedule and execute network maintenance, repairs, and upgrades with minimal impact on production systems.
- Utilize internal automation tools, scripts, and monitoring systems to configure, manage, and repair network equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including facilities, cabling, and server operations.
- Perform queue management for alarms, incidents, and maintenance tasks, and participate in ongoing deployment projects.
- Conduct physical audits of inventory and update asset management databases.
- Be able to work in an environment that involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting as part of regular duties.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Juniper Enterprise, Cisco, and Service Provider network hardware platforms and architectures, including data center switching environments.
- Solid working knowledge of routing and switching technologies and protocols.
- Familiarity with Linux OS, CLI navigation, JUNOS, Cisco IOS, and Bash scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex network issues, troubleshoot under pressure, and provide effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and organization, particularly in tracking assets and managing hardware replacements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with both local and remote teams.
