Our client is looking for a Network Engineer to work closely with the Network Core team in ensuring high availability, security, and resilience across a distributed enterprise environment. This role focuses on supporting and maintaining wired and wireless network access, last-mile connectivity, and network communications rooms across multiple sites and data centres.
This is a 247 operational role, requiring participation in scheduled after-hours maintenance and response to ad-hoc incidents.
Responsibilities
Network Access & Data Centre Operations
- Assist in supporting wired and wireless network access across enterprise and data centre environments
- Help administer network devices such as switches, wireless access points, WLAN controllers, and AAA servers
- Respond to and troubleshoot basic network access and connectivity issues
- Support provisioning, relocation, and troubleshooting of client wired and wireless endpoints
- Assist with diagnosing 802.1X authentication and authorization issues, escalating when required
- Monitor network availability and respond to system alerts under guidance from senior engineers
- Support replacement of faulty network components and assist with incident root cause analysis
- Perform routine operational tasks such as configuration checks, backups, and firmware updates
- Support change implementation and day-to-day operational activities
- Assist project teams in delivering wider IT services
Network Communications Rooms Management
- Assist with structured cabling and interconnect provisioning at sites and data centres
- Respond to basic UPS and PDU alerts and coordinate with contractors when needed
- Work with Facilities Management on power, cooling, and other M&E matters
- Escort vendors and contractors for network-related activities
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain and update network documentation, rack layouts, and cabling records
- Assist with inventory tracking, audits, and equipment retirement
Requirements
- at least 1-2 years of experience in network, infrastructure, or IT support roles
- Diploma or Degree in IT, Network Engineering, or related discipline
- Basic understanding of wired and wireless networking concepts
- Familiarity with network devices such as switches and wireless access points
- Cisco CCNA or currently pursuing CCNA is preferred
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform, GitLab) is a plus but not required
- Good communication skills and a strong customer service mindset
- Willingness to learn, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team
- Comfortable supporting 247 operations and after-hours maintenance when required
