Role Description
This full-time position as a Merchandiser (Food) is an on-site role based in Singapore. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning product displays, monitoring stock levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring high-quality food standards. The Merchandiser will identify market trends, assist in executing sales strategies, and maintain a visually appealing shopping environment. Additionally, the role involves working closely with internal departments to create promotions, customer-centric solutions and improve overall shopping experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a sourcing strategy from key Asian markets (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc). Manage the full product lifecycle from sourcing to introduction.
- Formulate the merchandising plan and provide strategic direction for in-store displays and product placement to maximize visibility and sales.
- Build strong supplier relationships. Negotiate costing, trading terms, and promotional support to achieve margin targets.
- Oversee stock levels, replenishment, and sell-through rates. Proactively manage slow-movers and expiry dates.
- Work closely with Marketing and Store Operations to plan and launch effective campaigns, in-store activations, and sampling initiatives.
- Ensure all products and processes adhere to SFA/HSA regulations and company quality standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Food Science, or similar.
- Experience sourcing from Asian markets (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc) and comfortable with overseas travel.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated interest or knowledge in Chinese food products and culture is preferred.
- Proficiency in Sales and Retail operations, with a focus on inventory control and market trend analysis.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment while holding excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the food or retail industry is an advantage.
- Demonstrated interest or knowledge in Chinese food products and culture is preferred.
