Job Summary
This 6-month contract role supports underwriting capacity by reviewing and assessing international private medical insurance applications to maintain quality and timeliness during a team member's absence.
Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite new, renewal, and endorsement applications for individual, family, and group international private medical insurance policies
- Assess medical histories, pre-existing conditions, and supporting documents to make informed risk decisions
- Analyze and interpret medical reports, test results, and physician statements to evaluate risk accurately
- Manage complex underwriting cases end-to-end, including coordinating requests for additional information and handling escalations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting records and documentation
- Comply strictly with data protection regulations such as PDPA and GDPR when handling medical and personal information
- Collate and submit monthly reports on completed cases, outstanding cases, turnaround time (TAT) performance, and other key metrics
- Support smooth handover processes at contract completion to ensure continuity
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Minimum 2 or more years of hands-on medical underwriting experience, preferably in international private medical insurance
- Ability to independently underwrite medical cases, including complex cases involving multiple conditions
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, common diseases, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
- Good working knowledge and familiarity with global healthcare systems and regional medical practices
- Proficient in internal underwriting systems and Microsoft Office tools
