Job Description

Responsibilities

1. Responsible to perform, depending on the section posted, a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory with little direct supervision by a senior staff

2. Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.

3. Routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on blood, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), urine and other body fluids.

4. Routine chemistry procedures including, microscopy (urine, dysmorphic RBCs) and serology (dengue, influenza covid combo test, urine preg)

5. Minor equipment testing (iSTAT, glucometer, hemochron, urine dipstick)

6. Minor equipment validation (Timer, pipette, thermometer).

7. Administrative section - responsible to perform registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients and printing and faxing of patient results. Result retrieval and record/specimen keeping.

8. Complies and maintains all applicable safety regulations in the Laboratory.

9. Maintains proper inventory levels of all Clinical Laboratory consumables and reagents 10. Reviews all daily QC results and discuss any problems with senior staff.

11. Checks the performance of all instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and to report any equipment which is not functioning properly.

12. Complies with all regulatory guidelines, participating in CAP proficiency testing programs and in hospital quality assurance programs.

13. Participates in a routine maintenance program for instruments and in on-going continuing education and professional development programs.

14. Supports flexible staffing requirements in the department and participates in shift duties.

15. Any other duties as assigned from time to time by clinical supervisor.

Qualitification and Experiences

  • - Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • - 1-2 years of experience in chemistry/immunology testing (optional)
  • - Some knowledge of chemistry or immunology principles, practices, and procedures
  • - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • - Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • - Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Optional

  • - Experience with automated chemistry/immunology analysers
  • - Knowledge of quality control and assurance principles
  • - Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
