Job Summary
A Medical Escort supports community-based Buddhist monastics by safely accompanying them between home or care settings and medical appointments, providing mobility assistance, companionship, and attentive care to ensure their comfort and dignity throughout the journey.
Responsibilities
- Accompany clients safely between their home or care settings and medical appointments, maintaining a calm and reassuring presence
- Assist clients with mobility and transfers using wheelchairs, walking aids, or other supports while preserving their dignity and comfort
- Support clients during appointment registration, waiting periods, and communication with healthcare professionals as needed
- Observe clients physical and emotional condition throughout the journey and respond with care and attentiveness
- Manage and handle necessary documents carefully and communicate relevant information to care coordinators
- Use Microsoft Office Word and Excel to maintain accurate records and reports related to client care and appointments
Required competencies and certifications
- Hold GCE O levels or higher qualification in any discipline
- Demonstrate effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Mandarin
- Maintain physical readiness to support mobility tasks, including handling wheelchairs or walking aids
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Possess knowledge of Buddhism, which is an added advantage
- Prior caregiving or related experience is valued
- Exhibit patience, sensitivity, and compassion when working with clients and their families
- Apply a respectful, person-centred approach grounded in empathy, especially when supporting elders or those with additional needs
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
