In this role, as a Mechanical Simulation Engineer you will be responsible for FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to support Module Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Process Development for R&D in our next generation modules.
Description
As a Mechanical Simulation Engineer you will conduct advanced FEA and adhesive flow simulations to optimize product designs, predict performance, and solve complex engineering challenges from concept through process development. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, validate designs through simulation-testing correlation, and develop cutting-edge methodologies that directly impact product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex finite element analyses for structural integrity, stress distribution, fatigue life, and failure prediction
- Conduct thermal-mechanical coupled simulations to evaluate product performance under various operating conditions
- Down-select suitable glue material properties for the assembly supporting product and process development using simulation tools.
- Validate simulation models through correlation with physical testing data
- Model and simulate adhesive dispensing patterns and flow behavior using CFD tools
- Predict bond line thickness, coverage areas, and potential void formation
- Optimize adhesive application processes for manufacturing efficiency
- Develop new modeling techniques and use modeling and simulation tools to support process development and failure analysis.
- Stay current with advances in modeling techniques and simulation tools to contribute to the development of new techniques and methodologies
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 10yrs Exp/ master's degree with 5yrs Exp/ PhD Exp with 15 years of Simulation and modeling experience working in R&D setup is preferred
- In-depth understanding of various computational methods, such as FEM, CFD
- Proficiency in simulation tools, such as ANSYS (STRUCTURAL, APDL, FLUENT), ABAQUS, STAR CCM+, COMSOL or similar
- Hands on skill on 3D and 2D CAD design software, like NX, SolidWorks or ProE/Creo
- Experience in programming languages, such as Python, C++, Fortran or similar
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical, coding and simulation knowledge is preferred
- Knowledge of AI/ML development for simulation is preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiar with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), stack up tolerance analysis techniques
