The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems for construction and industrial projects. The role involves working closely with the project team and site personnel to ensure that mechanical systems are properly designed, installed and completed in compliance with project specifications, relevant standards and safety requirements.
Job Description
- Design and develop mechanical systems for construction and industrial projects, including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, sanitary and fire protection systems.
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, technical specifications, calculations and installation plans.
- Coordinate mechanical works with civil, structural and other project disciplines to ensure proper integration of building services.
- Ensure mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant local regulations, codes, standards and project requirements.
- Oversee and monitor the installation of mechanical systems to ensure works are completed according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and project schedules.
- Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and proper execution of works.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor mechanical works, workmanship and installation quality.
- Assist in testing and commissioning of mechanical systems to ensure they are fully operational and meet the required performance standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues relating to mechanical systems during construction.
- Monitor mechanical project progress, identify potential delays or issues and assist in implementing appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical support to the project team during the construction and completion stages.
- Ensure mechanical installation works are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant safety requirements and risk management procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of mechanical drawings, technical submissions, calculations, inspection records and testing and commissioning documents.
- Report the progress of mechanical works and highlight technical or site issues to the Project Manager or senior management.
- Assist in ensuring that mechanical systems are properly completed and handed over in accordance with project requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in construction, building services or industrial projects.
- Experience in HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection or other building mechanical services will be an advantage.
- Experience in Singapore construction projects is preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Prior experience in MOE projects will be an advantage.
