Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior/Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, specialising in the design and development of high-precision automation equipment for the electronics industry (e.g. semiconductor, PCB) and customised factory automation systems.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about engineering innovation, problem-solving, and delivering cutting-edge automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Project Managers and clients to understand design requirements and specifications
• Analyse project needs and contribute to concept development and design solutions
• Design and develop high-precision automation equipment and systems
• Select suitable components (e.g. sensors, pneumatics, motors, servo systems, robotics)
• Prepare and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) using SAP
• Coordinate with fabrication vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery
• Support assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment with technicians
• Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and technical challenges
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, QA) to ensure compliance with industry standards

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design for automation equipment
• Strong knowledge of factory automation systems (semiconductor/PCB industry preferred)
• Hands-on experience in mechanical design and component selection (electrical, pneumatic, sensors)
• Proficient in SolidWorks (3D) and EPDM
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of machine safety and industry standards (e.g. ISO, IEC)
• Familiarity with reliability engineering principles
• Experience working with high-precision or high-tech automation systems
