Job Summary

The Material Planner / Buyer is responsible for managing procurement of materials and products necessary for the company's operations. This role involves planning to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have experience in inventory management and supplier negotiation. Develop and execute purchasing strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure on-time delivery of materials.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by developing and executing strategic plans and conducting daily Material Requirements Planning (MRP) reviews to support business operations
  • Lead Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) meetings to align cross-functional teams and achieve company goals related to inventory holding, inventory turns, and on-time shipments
  • Process and manage purchasing orders efficiently to fulfill delivery requests and maintain supply chain continuity
  • Manage and update item and supplier data attributes within the company system to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Design and implement inventory management policies in collaboration with suppliers to optimize stock levels and reduce costs
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate supplier performance KPIs to drive continuous improvement and supplier accountability
  • Initiate and lead IT improvement projects to enhance procurement and inventory management processes
  • Analyze inventory data through data mining techniques to identify opportunities for operational improvements
  • Coordinate sourcing activities with internal and external stakeholders to secure materials and services aligned with business needs
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or management to support operational objectives


Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high product mix
  • Proficient in advanced Excel, Access, and Office 365 applications to support data analysis and reporting
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SAP systems is advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving skills applied to operational challenges, with demonstrated interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
