Job Description
Marketing Manager
Compensation: Up to S$6,500/month + up to 3 months variable bonus
Work Arrangement: 5-day work week, Monday to Friday, office based
BullionStar has no shortage of things worth marketing. We sell physical gold and silver, operate a market leading bullion centre and vaults across three countries, have an active and highly engaged customer base, and sit in an industry that is rarely short of something to talk about. What we need is someone to bring it all together.
As Marketing Manager, you will own the marketing plan and turn it into campaigns across social, email, content, PR, the website and our physical bullion centre. You will decide what we should be talking about, how we should talk about it, where it should appear, and how the different pieces come together. This is not a role where you will be handed a marketing plan to execute, you will help shape it with the Deputy CEO, and the wider team. What we need from you is the judgement to spot a good opportunity, know what to do with it, and turn it into marketing that works.
Who we are
BullionStar is Singapore's leading precious metals dealer. We sell, buy back, store, and deliver physical gold, silver, and platinum to customers worldwide - from first-time buyers to institutional investors. We operate a full-service showroom in Singapore, a comprehensive e-commerce platform, and vault storage facilities across multiple jurisdictions.
We are independently owned, founder-led, and intentionally lean. There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy here. Decisions are made quickly, everyone is close to the customer, and every person in the business has a direct impact on what we deliver. We've built our reputation on trust, transparency, and doing things properly.
We're looking for people who are drawn to that kind of environment - people who want ownership, not job titles, and who find energy in building something rather than maintaining something.
One thing to know about our audience: they are sceptics by temperament. They distrust banks, they distrust hype, and they will distrust us the moment we sound like an ad. The marketing that works here earns attention with substance.
What you will do
- Strategy. A real marketing plan: which audiences, what message, which channels, what calendar, and why. Shaped with the Deputy CEO, the wider team, and owned and executed by you.
- Campaigns. Product launches, limited time offers, seasonal pushes and competitions across digital, social, email and the store itself. The idea, the assets, the timing and the follow-through are yours.
- Social and community. With our creatives, drive what we do on X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn: the calendar, the formats and the growth. Show up where people already talk about gold and silver too: Reddit, forums and comment sections. Answer questions genuinely, understand what people care about, and bring those insights back into our marketing.
- Email. The programme end-to-end: calendar, segments, offers, copy, send, and the honest read on what it returned. Every send must earn the next one.
- Creative and content direction. Photography, video, graphics, ad creative and written content. You will not be behind the camera all day, but you will be the reason the work is good: the briefs, the direction, the feedback and the standard. You will also have real input into how bullionstar.com itself develops.
- Media relations. Be proactive with PR. Spot the opportunity, whether it is a journalist's query, a news moment or a story worth pitching, and find the way to make it happen and land well.
- Analytics. We have an unusually deep warehouse of order and campaign data, plus analytics support. Know which campaigns moved product, which did not, and feed that into the next plan.
- The thread. Product, the shop floor, editorial, social, email, website: someone must make the post, the email, the site banner and the shop window feel like one campaign.
Who you are
- Campaigns directed, not just contributed to. Walk us through one from strategy to results: the audience, the idea, what you made, what you directed and what happened. More than once and across more than one channel.
- Excellent written and spoken English. This one is absolute. Plans that persuade, copy that sells without sounding like it, and the same standard out loud. Nothing else on this list can offset it. Your application is your first writing sample.
- E-commerce experience. You have marketed products that people buy online and understand the whole journey from first impression to landing page to checkout and repeat purchase. You think about the campaign and the buying experience as one thing and understand that getting attention is only useful if something happens afterwards.
- Social and email as crafts, not distribution channels. You understand how each platform works. Follower counts you inherited do not count things you made that travelled do. You have also run an EDM programme yourself and can show what it returned.
- Understanding of brand and customer. Your creative judgement is grounded in who we are and who buys from us, not personal taste. You can explain the call to someone who disagrees.
- Genuinely inquisitive. You do not need to arrive knowing the difference between a kilobar and a collectible coin, but you should want to. Nobody hands you a syllabus here. You teach yourself the business, the industry, the products and the customers because you want to know, and it shows up in the work.
- You see the opportunity in the product. Gold and silver are unusual things to market. They are valuable, physical, visual and surrounded by history, markets, politics, manufacturing, collecting and some very opinionated customers. Then there are the vaults, the shop floor, the deliveries and the moments when the price moves and the shop suddenly fills up. You notice those things and instinctively start thinking about what we could do with them.
- You pay attention to the market. You know what our competitors are doing, what they are doing well and where they are getting it wrong. You look beyond bullion too, learning from the best ideas in e-commerce and other industries. You do not copy for the sake of it, but you are always watching, learning and thinking about what we could do better.
- Creative judgement. You have made enough yourself, whether video, image, layout or ad, to know quickly when something is not good enough and to explain why.
- Commercial instinct. You care about reach, engagement and brand, but you know they are not the result. Marketing here ultimately must attract customers, sell metal and grow the business. You naturally ask what something cost, what it returned and whether we should do it again.
- The whole digital picture. You understand SEO, paid media, attribution and conversion well enough to see how they fit together, even where specialists run the channel. You are comfortable enough with numbers to judge your own campaigns honestly.
- Media relations. You know how to spot a story worth pitching, deal with journalists and turn something happening in the business or the market into an opportunity.
- Based in Singapore. This is an on-site role at New Bridge Road. We work in the same room. And when we are busy, everyone gets stuck in the shop, the customers, the vault. An afternoon on the shop floor can teach you more than a month of dashboards.
