CONTEXT OF THE JOB

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Market Surveillance Officer's key purpose is to analyze order and trade patterns of clients trading on AAC memberships in order to report about unlawful or potential suspicious behaviour of clients, on all exchanges covered in the APAC (Ex-Japan) region.

  • System signals Configure the surveillance tool to efficiently calibrate models to identify market abuse scenario's. Review alerts across all APAC (Ex-Japan) exchanges and analyse instances of potentially suspicious activities flagged by surveillance tool.
  • Signal analyses Analyse suspected behaviour of clients concerning abusive, manipulative, or illegal trading practices. Retrieves all necessary information from clients and exchanges to make a sound estimation of the activities.
  • Notifications Engage with business stakeholders on market abuse related escalations and other matters as and when required. Report to Compliance on potential market abuse behaviours detailing the concerned activity.
  • Management reports Formulate parts of management reports, concerning relevant tracked activities of clients, statistical reporting and executed analyses and actions.
  • System improvements Discuss problems and possibilities with vendors of the surveillance tool. Stimulates suppliers to make improvements to make surveillance more efficient. Driving continous process improvements and contributing to startegic projects and automation/optimisation initiatives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in a relavent discipline.
  • At least five years experience in a financial markets institution in a market surveillance role.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of financial markets products focusing on Equities, ETD's and Commodities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including effective written and spoken communication.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and completeness.
  • An ability to work independently and think through complex and detailed problems.
  • Good attitude, positive, adaptable and willing to share and learn.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or SQL a preferred.
  • Data visualisation skills particularly in Tableau, PowerBI, etc preferred.
