We are seeking an IT Support Engineer to support our expanding customer base in a high-impact, fast-moving environment. This role plays a key part in delivering responsive, high-quality support across complex maritime IT and connectivity environments deployed globally.
As an IT Support Engineer, you will be hands-on in providing day-to-day technical support for vessels. You will handle incident troubleshooting and rectification, support onboard hardware and software, and assist with vessel onboarding and system deployments. Working closely with internal teams, you will help ensure issues are resolved efficiently, consistently, and in line with service expectations.
Job Scope:
1. Ensure vessel IT support requests are promptly addressed, coordinating with vendors when necessary to resolve issues.
2. Act as the primary point of escalation for technical support calls and emails from vessels regarding computer, application, and connectivity issues.
3. Oversee the setup, installation, and configuration of onboard computers, software, and network infrastructure (up to Level 2).
4. Maintain accurate network infrastructure documentation for each vessel.
5. Provide remote assistance to vessels, coordinating across time zones to ensure timely support.
6. Diagnose and guide the resolution of network, hardware, and software issues.
7. Maintain inventories of hardware and software across the fleet.
8. Assist in ensuring timely quotation, procurement, and delivery of IT equipment to vessels.
9. Support project preparation and deployment to meet customer requirements, providing technical input and guidance to the team.
10. Gain exposure to and oversee support for other IT segments, including OT equipment, CCTV, WiFi infrastructure, and satellite communications.
Requirements:
1. Physically fit to board vessels for site support (a few days per month) onboard allowance provided.
2. Proficient in Level 1 networking, Windows OS, MS Office, WiFi networking, network infrastructure, firewalls, VLANs, routing, Outlook, and NAS/cloud management.
3. Flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, depending on vessel schedules.
4. Able to work independently, with strong attention to detail in preparing proper documentation for work completion.
5. Highly motivated, keen to learn, and driven to excel.
