Brookes Bell is currently recruiting for Marine Engineers who can join the team in the UK (Glasgow, London or Liverpool), Singapore, Shanghai or the US (Houston) with the aim of the role to carry out forensic investigations of marine casualties and associated incidents globally, either on an individual basis or as part of a wider team in Brookes Bell.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To carry out investigations and assessments relating to marine engineering matters
• To perform onsite surveys both locally and overseas
• To produce letters and reports detailing the findings of their investigations and/ or attendances
• To provide expert evidence in court/ arbitration in relation to their written expert testimony
• To provide advice/ support to clients in marine engineering related matters
• To follow company operating procedures
• To manage a small team allocated to them
• To work with no supervision
• To manage their own workload and deliverables
• To oversee the workload and deliverables of their team
• To actively market their discipline/ wider group
• To actively participate in business development for their discipline and the wider group
• To carry out relevant billing and admin tasks associated with the position of a Senior
• To train and mentor their assigned team
• Any other ad hoc duties which fall within the individual's abilities

Person Specification:

• Individual must have worked as an expert witness.
• Highly motivated and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ideally has worked as classification society surveyor with a Class 1 and has sea going experience.
• Must be based within commuting distance of one of Brookes Bell's offices.
• Must be fluent in English, able to converse on technical matters and write reports.
• Must be willing to travel internationally at short notice
• Able to work alone on site, without direct supervision.
