Job Description

Our client, a newly established international school in Singapore backed by one of the world's leading private school institutions, is seeking a passionate and experienced Mandarin Teacher to join its academic team.

The successful candidate will teach Mandarin to elementary students and play a key role in developing students language proficiency, cultural understanding, and appreciation for Chinese language and traditions.

Teachers at the school go beyond traditional instruction by creating learning experiences that inspire curiosity, imagination, and confidence, while supporting students in building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and global competency.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, student-centered environment and is committed to helping students develop meaningful communication skills in Mandarin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons that develop students listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
  • Design learning activities that build confidence in communication and cultural understanding
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying levels of Mandarin proficiency
  • Collaborate with homeroom and subject teachers to integrate Mandarin learning with broader classroom themes and units of inquiry where applicable
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and language practice
  • Promote appreciation of Chinese culture, traditions, and global perspectives through meaningful learning experiences
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and language development
  • Stay updated on best practices in language acquisition and elementary education
  • Contribute to the broader school community through meetings, professional development, and collaborative initiatives


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Chinese Studies, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching Mandarin, preferably in an international school or bilingual environment
  • Experience teaching elementary or primary school students
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition and differentiated instruction
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based or IB PYP approaches is an advantage
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills when working with colleagues, students, and parents
  • A proactive self-starter with a passion for helping students develop confidence and interest in learning Mandarin
