The Managing Director is responsible for providing overall strategic direction, regional governance, and executive leadership for the company's operations across the Asia-Pacific region covering Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. This role oversees multi-country business operations, financial performance, risk management, and organisational leadership across diversified business lines, including semiconductor components, electronic components, cutting tools, printing device, display, and solar energy.
The position requires extensive experience in regional management, strategic planning, and cross-border operations to ensure sustainable growth and alignment with global corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute regional business strategies and long-term growth plans aligned with corporate direction.
- Provide executive oversight of multi-country operations, ensuring consistency in business practices, governance, and performance standards across APAC offices.
- Lead regional financial management, including P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
- Drive business development and market expansion initiatives, including evaluation of new markets, products, and strategic partnerships.
- Establish and maintain strong corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management frameworks across all APAC entities.
- Oversee operational performance management, setting KPIs and monitoring efficiency, productivity, and quality standards.
- Provide senior leadership, talent development, and succession planning for country heads and senior management teams.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships, including principals, strategic partners, customers, and headquarters.
- Lead organisational transformation and change management initiatives to support business growth and operational resilience.
- Represent the company at executive-level negotiations, regional engagements, and strategic forums.
Requirements:
a) Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Electronics, or related fields.
b) Experience:
- Around 10 years of relevant professional experience, reflecting the seniority and regional scope of the role.
- Preferably 10 years in senior leadership, regional management, or executive roles with direct responsibility for multi-country operations.
- Excellent proficiency in English, as it is the primary working language for regional operations, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Business-level Japanese language proficiency (minimum JLPT N1) to support executive communication, negotiations, and coordination with Japanese headquarters, principals, and key customers.
- Proven experience managing APAC-level business operations, including financial performance and governance.
- Relevant industry exposure in semiconductor components, electronic components, industrial tools, display technologies, or renewable energy is required to effectively lead diversified business lines.
- Demonstrated track record in strategic planning, P&L, management, business expansion, and leadership of senior teams.
- Experience working within Japanese corporate environments, with an understanding of operational practices and business etiquette.
