Job Summary
Lead and manage all aspects of a wood products manufacturing company, driving strategy, production, delivery, and key account development to achieve revenue and profit targets while ensuring compliance and team excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company's 3-year strategy and annual operating plan to achieve SGD 20 million+ revenue and ≥12% net profit margin
- Coordinate operations across door and window workshop, furniture workshop, paint booth, and installation team to ensure seamless workflow
- Manage end-to-end supply chain for solid wood doors, fire doors, cabinets, wardrobes, and fixed furniture from order taking to on-site installation, achieving ≥95% on-time delivery and ≥98% first-time installation pass rates
- Negotiate and approve projects exceeding SGD 1 million, focusing on developers, general contractors, chain hotels, and ID companies
- Maintain key accounts for HDB, BTO, and apartment projects with a renewal rate of ≥80%
- Review engineering quotations and accurately calculate costs for materials, labor, and wastage to meet gross profit targets: Wooden Doors ≥30%, Fire Doors ≥35%, Custom Furniture ≥32%
- Prevent order surges by ensuring accuracy in material specifications and sizes
- Ensure factory compliance with MOM safety regulations, SCDF fire door certification, NEA dust/paint emissions standards, and BCA renovation license requirements
- Promote mechanization through CNC machining, edge banding machines, and automated painting lines to reduce reliance on external labor
- Manage and develop a leadership team including factory manager, production manager, project manager, design and order breakdown supervisor, and installation supervisor
- Establish a craftsman grading and piece-rate system to reduce turnover and attract younger skilled workers
Required competencies and certifications
- Over 10 years experience in the wood products industry, including 5+ years in general manager or factory manager roles
- Deep knowledge of wooden doors and windows, including solid wood mortise and tenon joints, fire door filling, airtightness, sound insulation, and hardware installation
- Understanding of furniture construction, including cabinet and wardrobe structures, hinges, drawer slides, and edge banding processes
- Experience managing factories with 80+ employees or annual output exceeding SGD 15 million
- Proven ability to lead diverse installation teams, including local and migrant workers
- Established business relationships with Singaporean developers, main contractors, and chain brands
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, door schedules, and SCDF fire door standards
- Skilled in liaising with inspection boards, architects, and quantity surveyors
- Proficient in CAD, order splitting software, and calculating door/window formulas and lumber yield
- Technical understanding of wood behavior, paint durability, and door gap adjustments
- Familiarity with BCA CoreTrade, bizSAFE Star, and ISO 9001 standards
- Basic communication skills in Mandarin, English, and Malay/Bengali to conduct meetings with diverse stakeholders
