Job Description

The Manager is a leadership position overseeing the activities of a specified Work-study Degree Programme (WSDeg Prog) where the role will require the incumbent to contribute both as an individual contributor and to oversee a small team of supporting roles.

The team is responsible to ensure that internship opportunities are aligned to NTU's learning outcome and students can benefit from the learning experience to become more job ready.

Key responsibilities:

Programme and Facilitation Management (OJT)

  • Design, develop and provide WSDeg Prog within respective responsible school programme area in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders and in accordance with NTU curriculum development guidelines.

  • Facilitate between industry partners and NTU faculties to constantly review the WSDeg Prog curriculum (incl related academic curriculum) to ensure that it remains current in respect of industry practices and norms.

  • Responsible for all aspects of WSDeg Prog according to assigned college and/or schools.

  • Identify, monitor and initiate pre-emptive actions to address any potential issues arising from successful placement or completion of OJT.

  • Manage end-to-end WSDeg Prog processes up to completion of the essential assessment process.

  • Collaborate with OJT employers to develop the required OJT Training Plan in respect to the OJT designated job roles and to facilitate its application to respective students.

  • Resolve any related OJT issues arising from both students and/or OJT employer(s).

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements.

  • Provide consultation and coaching support to students who need help in overcoming OJT challenges and to facilitate remedial actions with relevant stakeholders with concurrence.

Business Development & Stakeholders Management

  • Develop and make plans to look for new OJT opportunities from current and new employers to recruit NTU students.

  • Engage current and potential employers (and any relevant stakeholders) to garner relevant OJT opportunities.

  • Plan and organize event platforms to extend and facilitate broader engagement with relevant stakeholders and/or employers.

  • Collaborate with Team Lead to plan and develop suitable WSDeg Prog initiatives with respective schools to reinforce workplace experiential learning and help in organizing the team to realize the agreed plan.

  • Adopt innovative use of technology or any other relevant resources to enhance experiential learning and customer services experiences.

  • Responsible for constant exploration and seeking other collaborative opportunities to develop further relationship deepening with key industry partners.

Career Advisory and Placement Management

  • Provide career advisory support and consultation with candidates seeking enrolment to the programme to facilitate a best-fit outcome of the applicants and NTU.

  • Provide similar career advisory support throughout the student's study life to ensure that students are aware and prepared for the eventual expected OJT developmental stage and final placement with a company that would help to perform exemplary.

  • Prepare and coach students (in need) to be prepared for OJT and eventual job placements.

  • Engage companies to promote NTU WSDeg Prog student talent and making active efforts to placing students with relevant companies and job roles.

OJT Curriculum Development and Management

  • Review intended Job Description and to derive an OJT training scope and plan training in collaboration with the OJT employers.

  • Preparing the students going for OJT and equipping them with the necessary skillsets to successfully complete their OJT.

  • Provide constant monitoring and support the students in collaboration with the employers to ensure that OJT objectives are met in a timely manner.

  • Adjust OJT plan when situation requires adaptation to environmental changes.

  • Ensure all OJT requirements and assessments are duly completed with satisfaction.

Team Management

  • Supporting the Senior Assistant Director in development and managing the assigned team and its members so that they can perform their assigned roles and responsibilities in the most optimal manner that is possible. At times in the absence of the Senior Assistant Director, the Manager shall take over the role(s) of the Senior Assistant Director whenever situation is required.

  • Together with the Senior Assistant Director to manage intra-teams working relationship and cohesiveness to ensure optimal operational performance and delivery for the whole of PACE.

  • Provide supportive leadership role to develop and to nurture the team and its members capabilities so that they can perform cohesively as an effective and efficient team.

Strategy Management

  • Contribute and support from a managerial perspective towards planning, development and maintaining a sustainable work experiential learning ecosystem with suitable internal and external stakeholders to enable NTU students benefiting from their learning experiences during internship.

  • Support the Senior Assistant Director and participate in the whole of PACE planning in developing forward looking plans to take advantage of technology and data/information to enhance PACE capabilities so that more can be done with less efforts.

  • Explore and contribute towards developing plans to improve the chances of NTU students conversion from internship to full-time employment.

  • Support and contribute to the leadership to provide direction and guidance to PACE key drivers either in areas of digital transformation, business intelligence or customers relationship management. Taking an active team management role in workstream teams to help PACE realize the goals of the workstream teams.

Job requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in any field (polytechnic diploma holders with extensive relevant experience are welcome). Additional qualifications such as Career Facilitation Programme (CFP) and/or WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning & Facilitation (ACLP) will be an advantage.

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience, ideally in tertiary education, adult learning, or government agencies, with exposure to team leadership, internship/training management, and service delivery.

  • Strong grasp of Singapore's education landscape (particularly IHLs), adult learning pedagogy, On-the-Job Training (OJT), and the SkillsFuture Skills Framework.

  • Passionate about career coaching and consultation, helping students and mid-career individuals with career exploration, development, preparation, and training needs.

  • Proven success in managing internships, work-study programmes, workplace learning, or adult education initiatives.

  • Skilled in project and stakeholder management, able to work effectively with employers, students, and faculty.

  • An inspiring communicator and team leader, capable of leading a small operational team (2-4 people).

  • A collaborative team player who values education, takes ownership, is meticulous and strives to help others succeed.
