Job Description

About the Role

The Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) is seeking a driven and resourceful Manager to lead the development and management of SFIC's sustainability and accreditation initiatives - including the Sustainability Furniture Mark (SFM), development of a industry-wide accreditation programme, and SFIC's thought leadership platforms such as the annual Sustainability Summit.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and organised professional with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution. You should possess a working understanding of sustainability practices, particularly in areas related to materials, emissions standards, and green certification schemes within the built environment or furniture sectors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of the Sustainability Furniture Mark (SFM) and SFIC's accreditation framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Enterprise Singapore's objectives.
  • Coordinate framework updates, certification processes, training activities, and stakeholder communications.
  • Manage collaborations with technical partners, consultants, and industry associations.

2. Thought Leadership & Events

  • Lead planning and execution of SFIC's annual Sustainability Summit and related thought leadership initiatives.
  • Work with research partners to develop thought leadership and knowledge in the area of future of learning and working spaces
  • Curate relevant sustainability content, topics, and speakers for industry events, workshops, and reports.
  • Support SFIC's positioning as a key voice on sustainability, health and wellness, and inclusive design in the furniture and interior sectors.

3. Business Development & Financial Stewardship

  • Develop and manage annual budgets for assigned programmes and events, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability.
  • Identify partnership and sponsorship opportunities to sustain and grow SFIC's sustainability initiatives.
  • Track KPIs, prepare progress reports, and support funding claims under government-supported programmes (e.g., LEAD).

4. Research & Advocacy

  • Monitor global sustainability trends, standards, and policies relevant to furniture, design, and manufacturing sectors.
  • Provide research and policy support to SFIC's advocacy efforts in areas such as circular design, emissions standards, and sustainable consumption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Design Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in sustainability, accreditation, or programme management within the design, manufacturing, or furniture sectors.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills able to manage multiple workstreams independently.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Working knowledge of sustainability standards and emissions frameworks (e.g., VOC, formaldehyde emission levels, green product certification) is advantageous.
  • Some business development acumen and comfort with budgeting and partnership management.
