Job Description

The role

We are building a small Commercial Transformation team as part of FairPrice Group's Strategy & Transformation team to help FairPrice Group businesses grow. We work alongside business leaders to understand their challenges, find opportunities and turn good ideas into results. We are looking for someone who can lead this work with supervision by the Director & Head of Commercial Transformation, while staying close to the analysis and practical details.

What you will do

  • Take a loosely defined commercial question, establish what really needs answering and develop a practical plan to address it.
  • Use customer, market, operational and financial information to understand what is happening, why it matters and what the business could do differently.
  • Decide which analyses are worth doing, check the quality of the underlying data and work hands-on in Excel when needed. Use approved AI tools thoughtfully and verify their outputs.
  • Explore opportunities across pricing, promotions, assortment, category performance, supplier terms and other drivers of sales and margin.
  • Work with customer insights, analytics and data-science colleagues to agree on the business question, challenge assumptions and explain findings in commercial terms.
  • Present a clear recommendation or set of options, including likely impact, risks and trade-offs. Know when the evidence is sufficient to make a decision.
  • Build trusted relationships with business leaders, listen to operational realities and challenge views constructively when needed.
  • Help business owners translate decisions into actions, track whether changes are working and adjust the approach where necessary.
  • Guide and coach an analyst, review their work and share useful methods across the team.

Examples of the work

  • Pricing and promotions: Support work to improve pricing and promotional effectiveness, creating customer value and commercial performance.
  • Sourcing and costs: Work with commercial teams to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve sourcing effectiveness and cost management.
  • Business performance: Help teams understand performance drivers, identify improvement opportunities and turn decisions into practical actions.

Job Requirements

What we are looking for

  • Experience independently leading commercial or analytical work, whether in retail, consumer goods or another industry. Relevant backgrounds include category management, procurement, pricing, RGM, commercial excellence, finance, analytics and consulting.
  • Strong structured problem solving: able to simplify a complex situation without overlooking important facts.
  • Confident with Excel and financial analysis; able to question data, spot inconsistencies and explain what the numbers do and do not show.
  • Good commercial judgement and an interest in how customers, suppliers, store operations and economics fit together.
  • Clear writing and speaking. Can explain a complicated issue simply and run a productive discussion with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with specialists without needing to be a data scientist; willing to learn new tools, including LLMs, and use them responsibly.
  • Practical and independent, but not above doing detailed work. Comfortable with imperfect information and competing priorities.
  • Curious, approachable and open to being challenged. Takes responsibility, gives useful feedback and helps others improve.

What good looks like

Success means business leaders want to work with you because you help them solve important problems, make better decisions and deliver measurable improvements—not because you produce more slides.

The role works closely with business leaders and our customer, analytics and data-science teams. Consulting experience is not required.
