Job Description

The Manager (Strategy and Planning) plays a key role in driving organisation-wide alignment, planning, and performance tracking across SOS. The role translates strategic priorities into actionable plans, budgets, and measurable outcomes, ensuring integration and coherence across divisions. The role summarises sector trends, supports synthesis of insights, and helps maintain structured reportingrhythms to enable data-informed decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Forward Scanning

  • Support the development of SOS's annual and long-term plan aligned with Vision 2030 and organisational priorities.
  • Monitor sector trends, policy developments, and the broader suicide prevention and mental health landscape impacting SOS's programmes and planning.
  • Translate insights and national policy into practical strategies and coordinate stakeholder alignment activities.

Performance Measurement and Insights

  • Consolidate and synthesize the workplans and roadmaps with clear scope and milestones with the various departments across SOS, in line with the organisation framework set by the Senior Manager.
  • Maintain and track key performance indicators and success measures for programmes and projects, consistent with the organisation wide indicators approved by leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and narrative reports and coordinate quarterly reviews with leadership.
  • Consolidate internal and external data and research to surface emergent needs and gaps for review.

Alignment and Integration Across Divisions

  • Partner across SOS divisions to align strategies, service models, and operating processes.
  • Facilitate workshops and staff level discussions to build shared understanding and alignment, and document agreed actions.

Policy and Sector Coordination

  • Coordinate engagements with ministries, agencies, and sector partners on strategy projects and policy reviews as directed by the Senior Manager.
  • Prepare leadership packs, board or committee papers, and strategic reports for review and sign off.
  • Prepare proposals and project briefs for strategic initiatives, contribute to operational efficiency enhancements, and support strategic planning and organisational development efforts.

Grants Management

  • Source, identify, and track grant opportunities from public and private organizations to support SOS initiatives.
  • Guide and assist relevant departments in preparing, submitting and tracking applications, ensuring compliance with requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain a grant database and ensure the relevant departments monitor reporting obligations and build relationships with fundingbodies to maximize future opportunities


Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Public or Social Policy, Business Administration, Data or Business Analytics, Social Sciences, Non-Profit Management or a related field.

Additional training or certificationin any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Proficiency in data visualisation or analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, NVivo, R, or Python.

Relevant Experience:

  • 10 years of working experience with at least 3 - 5 years of experience driving or leading strategy development, planning, or project management, preferably in health or social care.
  • Experience in suicide prevention or mental health or sector policy.
  • Exposure to budgeting, grants management, performance frameworks, and facilitation.

Behaviour Traits & Attitude:

  • Strong analytical and organisational skills and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
  • .Clear written and spoken communication and stakeholder management experience.
  • Strong ability working with quantitative and qualitative data to derive insights.
