About Portfolio Growth & Communications Team

The Portfolio Growth and Communications team drives strategic value creation and amplifies impact for portfolio companies through growth initiatives, partnerships, and thought leadership platforms.

We are seeking a team player to join our Portfolio Growth & Communications team. This role will report to the Head of Portfolio Growth & Communications and will work closely with founders and ecosystem stakeholders.

You're Suitable If You're a Hands-on Self-starter Who Can Develop And Execute Value-adding Initiatives To Support The Growth Of Early-stage Portfolio Companies Of SGGC

=> Engage early-stage portfolio companies, partners and SGGC's network via platform-type activities like events, programmes and content, and support internal and external communications.

=> Build and implement post-investment value creation plans, including GTM strategy, market entry, and operational excellence for selected companies, track and report key business metrics.

The impact you'll be making

  • 1) Value Creation
  • Relationship and ecosystem building be the connector between and amongst portfolio companies and SGGC's network. Identify opportunities, facilitate introductions and maintain community engagement through coordination of owned and industry events and programmes such as conferences, demo days and bespoke networking events for founders, investors and ecosystem partners.
  • Create, curate and manage content such as playbooks, best practice guides, portfolio analytics and benchmarking data, as well as portfolio company and founder news and highlights.
  • Monitor performance and reporting track key business and operational metrics of portfolio companies, provide regular updates on portfolio performance and use data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Build post-investment plans work with the investment team to help develop actionable value creation plans for selected early-stage tech companies. Including but not limited to the following:
  • -- Support founders on go-to-market (GTM) initiatives partner with portfolio leadership to implement GTM improvements such as ideal customer profile identification, customer segmentation, retention analysis, sales excellence and pricing guidance. Assist with new market entry, build buy partner decisions and product or geographic expansion strategies.
  • -- Operational and technology guidance help portfolio teams select and implement sales/marketing tools, improve order-to-cash processes, clean data and design KPI frameworks.
  • 2) Communications
  • Be a brand guardian for the SEEDS, EDBI and SG Growth Capital brands and champion messaging and stories that reflects our early-stage investment thesis and highlight portfolio successes.
  • Manage external communications for early-stage portfolio company news and publicity opportunities develop and execute PR strategies, maintain relationships with startup ecosystem partners and business journalists and identify proactive media opportunities. Support the founders and portfolio companies press announcements and funding news for dissemination to local and regional media.
  • Support internal communications and crisis management relating to early-stage investments and portfolio companies ensure consistent messaging across the firm, preparing internal notes and investor updates. During sensitive situations, coordinate a rapid response, liaise with media and provide continuous updates to stakeholders, following best practices in crisis communications.

You are this and more

  • Experience: 3 - 5years in venture capital, startup operations, marketing/comms, tech accelerator/incubator or related fields. Exposure to early-stage tech companies and hands-on support roles is highly valued.
  • Strategic and analytical abilities: Comfort with GTM strategy, market research, and data analysis. Ability to create frameworks, evaluate business models and work with founders to design growth plans. Strong project management skills and the ability to execute multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated experience crafting thought leadership pieces and managing social media, press releases or newsletters. Confidence interacting with senior executives, media and founders.
  • Relationship & community builder: Enthusiasm for working with entrepreneurs; ability to build trust with portfolio teams and external partners. Experience organising events or programmes that bring people together.
  • Self-starter mentality: Entrepreneurial, resourceful and comfortable operating in unstructured environments. Willingness to roll up sleeves, learn new tools and own initiatives from concept to execution. We value curiosity, transparency, and collaboration.
