Job Description

The Manager/Senior Finance Manager will assist the Finance Director in leading end-to-end financial planning, stewardship, and analytics for the Faculty/School. The role requires the successful candidate to work alongside the Director to oversee budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, grant and fund accounting, compliance and controls, and finance operations, while driving data-informed decisions that support teaching, research, and strategic initiatives

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in financial planning, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assist in the annual budget process, coordinate submissions across officess/centres and provide budget guidance
  • Assist in management reporting and performance analytics using presentation tools such as Power BI, dashboards, etc. to present results to senior management.
  • Assist in providing financial operations oversight, monitor controls, review & analyse financial data, ensure adherence to University policies and guidelines, and be audit ready.
  • Oversee timely monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly reports, dashboards, and KPI analyses with clear variance commentary and action plans
  • Oversee year-end close, reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and accurate financial statements at Faculty/School level
  • Track performance (Profit & Loss) of self-financing education programmes and projects for viability
  • Research grant financial management. Monitor grant expenditures, allowable costs, liaise with research project managers & PIs to ensure timely invoicing/claim submission and follow up on grant claim receipt.
  • Any ad hoc work assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • A recognised Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • At least 812 years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • Prior experience working in a higher education institution environment is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and frameworks relevant to universities is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with some experience in ERP/Finance systems such as SAP, reporting/BI tools such as PowerBI/Tableu, Excel and powerpoint familiarity is a plus.
