Job Description

The Research Grant Management (RGM) is one of the two departments under the A.STAR Research Office (RO). This department manages A.STAR's internal grants aimed at seeding long-term strategic and multidisciplinary research, early research talent development and nurturing internationally competitive research investigators. The team also coordinates with relevant internal stakeholders to drive research alignment and competitiveness in external grant applications.

This role is critical in supporting the functions of RGM which includes the following

Establish critical operating systems and processes for the Director of Research (DOR) functions.

  • Establish relevant guidelines in governing grant management and administration
  • Liasing with grantors to ensure smooth operations on grant administration
  • Review Terms & Conditions of competitive grant calls to check for alignment and compliance
  • Liasing with relevant stakeholders to solicit inputs to improve the operations of grant management and administration
  • Analyse critical statistics and provide critical summary for managements planning
  • Disseminate grant calls to ARES (A.STAR Research Entities) and administer proposal submissions for relevant reviews by expert panels, councils, RO, etc.
  • Follow up with relevant ARES and Corp Groups on LOAs received, ensure T&C of LOAs are complied
  • Follow up with relevant ARES and Corp Groups on Fund Requisition and Progress Reports
  • Follow up with relevant ARES on processing of variation requests of projects
  • Perform proper documentation of critical documents on approvals, projects, reports, etc.

Requirements

  • Minimally a university degree with a good knowledge of STEM discipline
  • Minimally 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, including research leaders
  • Strong attention to details, e.g., grants terms and conditions
  • Experience and/or keen interest in work related to governance and policy, especially in the research & development sector
  • Strong knowledge on software tools such as Words, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and systems thinking abilities
  • Experience in data analytics and visualisation tools (Tableau/PowerBI) will be an advantage
  • Resourceful and independent
