Key Job Purposes :
Management of the assigned regional R&D activities pursuing the strategy set by corporate R&D headquarter in Sysmex Corporation, Japan. Achieving technology strategy (incl. technology acquire /scouting, KOL network and identification of regional requirement for Diagnostics business and/or R&D). Plan and practice to promote specific R&D activity and technology acquisition.
Key activities include acquisition of technologies represented by AI technology and digital technology, building relationships with technology partners as R&D networking, and support for projects including assisting the head of the new R&D center in the AP (including the project organized by Sysmex Corporation).
Job Responsibilities:
1. Technology development
Conduct research and development on elemental technologies (medical data science including AI) to realize digital medical care and acquire technology.
Utilizing data analysis technologies such as model construction and machine learning for medical data, digital medical care.
- Based on the annual plan and/or strategies, to develop the elemental technology regarding AI, Medical Digital Transformation and Data Science in collaboration with regional partners.
- Review the research and development status and revise and propose updated plan for development the elemental technology.
- Lead development of the proof of concept model (concept application) to accelerate regional R&D activities.
2. Research Activity
Search for regional needs in digital and other areas in the Asia Pacific (AP) region, and input information to corporate R&D headquarter in Sysmex Japan for formulating technology and business strategies.
- Plan / update a master plan for research activity.
- Analyze technology trend and market information for gaps, product positioning and strategy development.
3. Collaboration Activity
Promote collaboration with various partners (companies, academia, medical institutions, etc.) in elemental technology acquisition activities.
- Develop and maintain technological/business relations with key opinion leaders and various scientists in top academia, medical institute, private hospitals, healthcare, government institutions, diagnostic lab chains and other related start-ups.
- Drive the co-creation in collaboration with the above partners and execute specific R&D themes.
4. Organization Support
Assist the Head of the new R&D center in the AP to support cross-organizational activities.
- Support with the Head in terms of building organization
- Work closely with Technology Strategy Division of Sysmex Corporation.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree /Informatics Degree with 5 years of development experience in fields related to informatics such as digital (Dx) and AI
- Experience in leading and giving instructions in a small team
- Proficiency in Japanese is a must
- Proven analytic skills with ability to understand complex market & product data to produce sound business recommendations
- Ability to analyze & prioritize opportunities and generate proposals further decision-making
- High level of planning and execution skills
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Understanding of basic financial statements
- Enthusiastic, self-starter with strategic focus, positive thinking
- Focused on integrity, customer oriented, accountability and respect
- Basic development experience in the IVD / life science industry (including experience in clinical / research laboratories and experience in studying medical digital transformation)
- Travel requirements: Occasionally
