Job Description

Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.

SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. Job Description

  • Serve as the primary liaison within the SAM production management team for all AVL requirements.
  • Lead or provide consultative support to team members depending on the complexity of AVL installations.
  • Mentor team members on AVL technical maintenance and operational best practices.
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of AV displays to ensure seamless interfacing across various equipment.
  • Provide advice and consultation for AVL equipment purchases, including replacements and upgrades.
  • Manage contemporary art projects from development to closing, with a focus on AVL installations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure resources and ensure successful completion of AVL installations for exhibitions/projects.
  • Develop and implement all AV plans and operational processes for exhibitions/projects, including care of artwork collections and AVL equipment.
  • Oversee all AV-related activitiesplanning & project administration, budget & timeline management, design & fabrication, artworks and AV installation, maintenance & deinstallation, and logisticsfor both local and travelling exhibitions/projects.
  • Evaluate and propose risk management plans for each exhibition/project.
  • Apply and enforce workplace safety measures at worksites.
  • Handle ad-hoc assignments when required.
  • Work collaboratively with museum specialists such as art handlers, conservators, framers, mount makers, collections managers, and registrars.
  • Foster a productive and collaborative workflow by promoting efficient processes and clear communication.
  • Develop working relationships and foster key networks with industry players.
  • Lead and manage the procurement process for AVL equipment, including ITQ/ITT processes.
  • Manage and maintain the inventory of AVL equipment, ensuring accuracy and operational readiness.
  • Support audit activities, including stock-taking and tracking of high-value assets with the SAM Finance team.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years of relevant AVL experience or work in exhibitionary / artistic presentations
  • Strong interest in contemporary art and related fields
  • Proficient technical skillset for AV planning and implementation, including:
  • Multi-channel syncing and encoding (e.g., BrightAuthor)
  • Video editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Show control systems (e.g., QLab)
  • Projection mapping (e.g., HeavyM)
  • Versatility and a strong interest in learning new technologies related to artwork presentations and visual displays
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and coordinate resources effectively
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
