Position Summary
Lead and provide technical and managerial oversight to the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Tasks And Responsibilities
- Assist GM/ SGM in day-to-day operation.
- Provide technical guidance, rules & regulatory updates and training to team members.
- Provide technical assessment and review for tender projects.
- Resource planning/ manning to ensure optimise manpower utilisation.
- Undertake Technical lead role in newbuilding and/or Conversion/ Retrofit project.
- Conduct equipment technical assessment and manage vendor relationships.
- Oversee equipment layout, ensuring proper integration with other vessel systems.
- Manage vendor coordination and integration with other disciplines.
- Review and verify equipment capacity sizing and system interface.
- Ensure smooth interfacing for 3D modeling for HVAC, piping and machineries with other disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, design house and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of design & engineering experience of machineries, piping and HVAC systems for ship building, conversion and retrofit projects in the marine/ offshore industry. Have embarked on leadership roles for at least 5 years leading a team of no less than 8 persons.
- Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline.
- Possess good communication & interpersonal skills, project management and excellent leadership.
- Familiar with AutoCAD/ Microsoft Office/ Tribon/ AVEVA. CADMATIC is a plus.
- Familiar with Shipbuilding & Offshore industry standards and practices & Classification Rules and National Authority Regulations.
- Extensive knowledge (including calculation) and experience on the design of marine system, piping and HVAC.
