Manager, Insights Strategy & Operations (12-Month Parental-Leave Cover)

Introduction to the Team

MIP (Media Insights & Planning) is the dedicated team for analyzing data, discovering trends, and creating insights for Expedia Group Advertising (EGA) partners. The team tells stories with data related to travel market and macro environments, and they craft partner-facing reporting that measures advertising campaign performance in terms user engagement, booking conversion, and incrementality. The team plans regional and global advertising campaigns on and outside of Expedia Groups network of sites, including Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. Increasingly, the team is adapting its capabilities to incorporate and normalize agentic and generative AI to increase effectiveness inside and outside the EGA organization.

MIP is looking for a high performing individual contributor, with experience of cross-functional influence on global business initiatives, to own end2end and enhance the team's operations and strategy for market and advertising campaign performance insights. The team is looking for the successful candidate to develop and improve their capabilities, principles, and workflows to solve complex business issues and opportunities. They would operate largely independently and be an effective collaborator with the ability to mentor more junior analysts.

In This Role, You Will

  • Owns end2end data and insights operations and strategy for MIP.
  • Frequent and effective collaboration with EGA Analytics to ideate and execute partner-facing reporting featuring market and campaign performance insights designed to generate new revenue for the business and retain existing EGA partnerships across Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) and travel suppliers, including Hotels and Airlines.
  • Responsible for insights and data storytelling best practice for MIP.
  • Responsible for creating or collaborating across EGA to create internal reporting designed to assess business performance and identify future growth opportunities.
  • Develops new capabilities to improve the efficiency and efficacy of MIP's data and insights portfolio of tools.
  • Has one eye on the future of data and insights and evolving and improving MIP's portfolio of tools partner use-cases and context should be key to how we adapt here, as well as the types of data shared with different EGA verticals.
  • Identifies relevant data and insights projects which can be considered for inclusion in EGA annual strategic and operational planning.
  • Factors industry trends and innovations into MIP's vision for data and insights.
  • Understands how AI can influence and improve (1) MIP's data and insights capabilities, and (2) Their ability to generate effective data storytelling.
  • Operates seamlessly across commercial and non-commercial groups to ideate and execute against strategic and operational developments for MIP's data and insights.
  • Develops an awareness of industry issues, including trends and challenges or concepts.
  • Develops a broad understanding of industry best practices, products/services and their applications; distinguishes the pros, cons and implications of the options and gathers data on competitors products/services to innovate within MIP and EGA.
  • Involved in partner-facing analytics and insights to support new business and retention strategies of larger EGA advertising partners within APAC.

Experience And Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in data strategy, analytics, or insights (with Bachelor's degree)
  • 3+ years experience in data strategy, analytics, or insights (with Master's degree)
  • Expertise in advertising ecosystems (search, display, video, programmatic).
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML applications in marketing and ad tech.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional and global stakeholders.
  • Developed and drove significant and sustained change and performance improvement from data-driven insights in a number of different areas or contexts.
