Reports to: Head of Financial Reporting and Performance Analysis
Team Size: Small-sized team of BI Analysts
Role Purpose
The Business Intelligence Manager plays a critical leadership role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Groups Tableau dashboard ecosystem and financial analytics tools. The role owns the operational delivery, automation, control frameworks, and technical execution of Group Finances BI platforms.
A key focus is eliminating manual reporting, strengthening automated checks and controls, and progressing the Groups analytics capabilities from BI toward AI-enabled insights. The BI Manager works closely with the Head of FRPA to design and execute the BI roadmap, ensuring solutions are delivered reliably and on time per the Group reporting calendar.
The role interacts regularly with dashboard users, IT, Data, and Finance Systems, and must translate complex technical concepts into simple business language. The BI Manager also manages a team of BI Analysts, ensuring cross-training, documentation, and resilience with no key-man dependency.
The ideal candidate is highly ambitious and high-potential, with strong coding and visualisation skills. They should aspire to move from a back-office builder role into a more front-facing influencer roleleveraging technical capabilities to shape business decisions, drive adoption, and deliver meaningful value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Tableau Dashboard Ownership & Technical Leadership
Lead the design, build, maintenance, and enhancement of Group Finances Tableau dashboards and reporting tools.
Ensure dashboards are accurate, stable, intuitive, and aligned with Group reporting frameworks.
Drive visualisation standards and maintain consistency in data logic and KPI definitions.
Implement automated controls and validation checks to ensure reporting accuracy and reliability.
Collaborate with IT, Finance Systems, and Data teams to resolve technical constraints and performance issues.
Embed strong coding and visualisation practices across the BI team.
2. Reporting Automation & Efficiency Improvement
Use Tableau, Python, Airflow, and other tools to automate manual reporting processes and deliver scalable BI solutions.
Deliver automated reports and data products aligned with the Group reporting calendar.
Build reusable data pipelines, scripts, workflows, and templates to accelerate future development.
Embed automated quality checks throughout reporting flows to reduce errors and maximise reliability.
Ensure resilience and no key-man dependency through cross-training, documentation, and shared ownership of automated workflows.
3. BI AI Enablement
Support execution of the BI-to-AI roadmap, including automated insights, anomaly detection, forecasting enhancement, and narrative generation.
Identify and prioritise opportunities to enhance analysis and reporting using advanced analytics, LLMs, and machine learning.
Modernise datasets, workflows, and dashboard logic to enable future AI and LLM adoption.
Implement AI-enabled tools that meet governance, control, and data integrity standards.
Work with Data Science and IT on context engineering, prompt engineering, and integration of AI capabilities into Group reporting.
4. Data Governance & Access Controls
Govern and maintain the Group Finance data access control policy, ensuring secure and compliant data access.
Partner with IT and Finance Systems to uphold strong data governance.
Ensure dashboards consistently maintain a single version of the truth across the organisation.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Serve as a key partner to dashboard users, IT, Finance Systems, and other functions.
Promote strong adoption and daily usage of dashboards and automated reports across finance and commercial teams, ensuring users understand their value and integrate them into regular decision-making.
Provide user training, demonstrations, and ongoing education to maximise adoption and effective use.
Establish structured feedback loops with key users to identify enhancement opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
Work with IT and Data Science teams to align technical requirements, ensure smooth integration of new capabilities, and translate constraints into clear business language.
Translate business and finance requirements into clear technical specifications.
Communicate complex technical issues in simple, layman-friendly terms.
Present dashboard enhancements, issue resolutions, and BI roadmap updates clearly and compellingly.
6. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Manage, coach, and develop a team of BI Analysts, strengthening technical capability and problem-solving skills.
Build strong team resilience through cross-training, shared ownership of key assets, and robust documentation.
Reinforce consistent development standards across dashboards, pipelines, and data models.
Foster a collaborative, supportive, and solutions-focused team environment.
Promote knowledge-sharing, continuous learning, and uplift of coding, data engineering, and visualisation skills across the team.
Required Skills & Experience - Technical Expertise
Strong proficiency in Tableau development, data modelling, calculations, and optimisation.
Ability to code in Python for data processing, automation, and controls.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
Strong understanding of financial data structures and reporting cycles.
Ability to build automated checks, validation logic, and robust control frameworks.
