Location: The Yard - Jurong
Reports To: Squads Manager and Managing Director
The MAG High Performance Coach & Programme Manager will lead, develop and be accountable for the entire Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) pathway at The Yard, from grassroots participation through to elite, international and NCAA-preparatory performance.
Under the guidance of the Managing Director, the role will be responsible for the strategic vision, implementation, growth, technical direction and long-term sustainability of the MAG programme. This includes creating clear and aspirational pathways for gymnasts to:
Represent Singapore and other countries at international level
Compete at regional and global competitions
Progress towards NCAA gymnastics scholarships and collegiate competition in the USA
The role carries responsibility for:
Mentoring, developing and leading the current MAG coaching team
Establishing a high-performance culture built on technical excellence, athlete welfare, and long-term athlete development
Acting as the key liaison between coaches, athletes, parents and the competitive leadership team
Talent identification from the recreational program
The position will also play a key role in promoting The Yard as a regional centre of excellence for MAG, working with marketing and membership teams to increase participation and retention at all levels of the pathway.
In conjunction with the Squads Manager and Managing Director, lead the strategic drive to position The Yard as Singapore's premier MAG high performance training centre.
Design and deliver world-class, age-appropriate and performance-driven training programmes aligned with international best practice.
Coach and prepare gymnasts for national team pathways, international representation and NCAA recruitment, with a strong emphasis on long-term athlete development.
Create a high-performance culture that balances excellence, athlete wellbeing, education and personal development.
Ensure all coaching delivery adheres to The Yard's policies, procedures, safeguarding standards, equality principles and health & safety regulations.
Maintain the highest standards of athlete safety, reporting all incidents in line with company procedures.
Maintain open, professional and consistent communication with parents, athletes and staff.
Attend and actively contribute to coaching meetings, education clinics and professional development opportunities.
Lead by example in coaching behaviour, professionalism and technical standards.
Coach recreational classes to assist in talent identification, also liaising with the recreational coaches to ensure they are looking for gymnasts for the competitive program
Act as the senior technical lead for MAG, mentoring and supporting all MAG coaches (senior, junior and recreational).
Provide ongoing mentorship, observation and feedback to ensure coaching quality and consistency across the programme.
Lead MAG coaches education sessions focusing on:
Skill progressions
Physical preparation
Competition readiness
Athlete welfare and workload management
Develop a MAG coaching resource hub, ensuring all coaches have access to structured plans, technical guidance and performance benchmarks.
Work with HR to identify, source and implement external education and certification opportunities for MAG coaches.
Foster a collaborative coaching environment with regular MAG-specific planning and review sessions.
In partnership with the Squads Manager, take full responsibility for the design, implementation and evolution of the MAG programme at The Yard.
Develop a clear, structured MAG pathway from recreational to elite, including:
Pre-competitive programmes
Competitive squads
High performance and international pathways
NCAA-focused athlete preparation pathways
Create and maintain a comprehensive MAG competitive curriculum, aligned with FIG, regional and NCAA standards.
Identify and support athletes with potential for international representation and collegiate scholarships, working closely with families to manage expectations and opportunities.
Collaborate with the Senior Competitive Coaching Team to:
Organise regional and international competitions and training camps
Provide exposure to high-level coaching, judging and competition environments
Oversee MAG competition planning, preparation and entries in collaboration with the competitive team.
Monitor athlete progression, squad sizes and retention to ensure programmes are financially sustainable and performance-driven.
Deliver regular, structured feedback to parents and the Managing Director on athlete development and programme outcomes.
Lead and administer parent-coach meetings for the MAG programme, ensuring clear communication and documented feedback.
