MACHINING AND TOOLING TECHNICIAN

Job Description

• Set up and operate CNC and conventional machining equipment.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.

• Prepare, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, jigs, and workholding equipment.

• Perform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, grinding, and tapping.

• Measure and inspect machined components using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, and other precision instruments.

• Adjust machine parameters and tool offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy.

• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment problems.

• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on machines and tooling.

• Monitor tool wear and replace or recondition tooling when required.

• Support CNC program testing, optimization, and production improvements.

• Maintain tooling, fixtures, gauges, and machining equipment in good working condition.

• Follow safety procedures, quality requirements, and production schedules.

• Record production, inspection, maintenance, and tooling information.

• Work closely with engineers, production personnel, quality teams, and maintenance technicians.

  
  Requirements

  • Previous experience in machining, tooling, CNC operation, or tool-and-die manufacturing is preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T.

  • Knowledge of CNC milling and/or CNC turning processes.

  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.

  • Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, materials, and tooling selection.

  • Basic understanding of CNC programming

  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues.

  • Good mechanical and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to work shifts and to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines,with flexbility to work extended hours when required.
