Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor leads site crews carrying out preventive maintenance, corrective works, and emergency response for 22 kV and 6.6 kV composite/compact oil ring main units (RMUs) and associated substation equipment. The role ensures work is executed safely under Permit-to-Work (PTW), meets technical specifications (including insulating-oil handling and testing), and is properly documented for client acceptance and billing.
Key Responsibilities
. Supervise and coordinate technicians/contractors on-site: manpower planning, task allocation, toolbox briefings, and workmanship checks.
. Plan and execute preventive maintenance and servicing activities, ensuring all works follow the relevant maintenance manuals and client technical specifications.
. Control site safety and compliance: ensure PTW requirements are met before work starts, enforce safe work procedures, PPE use, and stop unsafe work.
. Oversee insulating oil activities for RMUs: draining, internal cleaning, inspection for foreign objects, refilling/topping-up, and ensuring oil quality checks are performed and recorded.
. Ensure required testing is carried out and recorded (e.g., dielectric strength, insulation resistance, partial discharge checks) and that test instruments are within calibration.
. Coordinate urgent/emergency rectification works and maintain on-call responsiveness as required by the contract (including mobilisation within required timeframes).
. Manage spares and consumables: ensure critical spares are available on-site, track usage, and raise requisitions.
. Prepare and submit required documentation: work completion checklists, test reports, claim forms, and supporting evidence for the client's Completion Certificate and invoicing.
. Interface with the client's authorised officers/representatives: receive work instructions, provide updates, report abnormalities immediately, and close out jobs.
. Coach and develop crew competency ensure only approved personnel perform contract works and maintain training/competency records.
Working Conditions
. Worksites: Client substations and switchrooms (islandwide).
. Work hours are typically aligned to client working hours overtime/after-hours works may be required for outages and urgent rectification.
. Role requires field supervision, occasional confined/limited-access switchroom work, and adherence to strict safety controls.
Requirements
. Diploma/ITE in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
. 2+ years experience in electrical equipment maintenance experience with MV switchgear/RMUs and insulating-oil handling is strongly preferred. Training will be given.
. Good understanding of PTW workflows, basic risk control practices, and field safety supervision.
. Able to read technical drawings/manuals, complete checklists/test forms, and write clear job reports.
. Comfortable supervising crews on-site and communicating with client representatives.
. Physically fit for field work able to respond to urgent call-outs when required.
. Valid Class 3 driving licence (preferred).
