1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical works with architects, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Ensure M&E works comply with Singapore regulations (e.g., BCA, SCDF, PUB, EMA)
2. Mechanical & Electrical System Design
- Assist in design, sizing, and selection of M&E systems such as:
HVAC (air-conditioning & ventilation)
Electrical distribution & lighting
Fire protection systems
Plumbing & sanitary systems
ACMV, BMS, lift/escalator systems (depending on project)
3. Site Supervision & Quality Control
- Monitor installation work for compliance with approved plans
- Conduct site inspections, testing & commissioning (T&C)
- Resolve technical or coordination issues on site
- Check workmanship quality and ensure safety standards are met
4. Technical Documentation
- Prepare method statements, shop drawings, and submission documents
- Update as-built drawings upon project completion
- Produce technical reports, inspection forms, T&C reports
5. Procurement & Cost Control
- Evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Recommend M&E materials and equipment
- Track project budget and prevent cost overruns
6. Maintenance (for Facilities/Building M&E Engineers)
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems
- Troubleshoot M&E faults (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lift issues)
- Optimise energy usage and ensure system reliability
