Logistics Specialist (Transport Operations)
Job Summary:
The Logistics Specialist (Transport Operations) is responsible for managing and executing transportation and delivery operations efficiently. This role involves overseeing fleet activities, ensuring timely deliveries, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport & Fleet OperationsOperate and maintain Class 4/5 vehicles for the safe and timely delivery of goods.
Plan and optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce delays.
Coordinate with dispatch teams and warehouse personnel for loading and unloading.
- Logistics CoordinationEnsure all transport activities align with customer requirements and company policies.
Monitor shipment statuses and provide real-time updates to relevant stakeholders.
Handle documentation, including delivery orders, invoices, and manifests.
- Compliance & SafetyEnsure adherence to local traffic laws and company safety regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
Follow proper handling procedures for goods, especially for fragile or temperature-sensitive items.
- Customer Service & CommunicationMaintain professional interactions with clients during deliveries.
Address and resolve any on-site delivery issues or customer concerns.
Work closely with the logistics team to improve service levels.
- Process Improvement & ReportingIdentify opportunities to enhance transport efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain records of fuel usage, mileage, and delivery performance.
Assist in fleet management initiatives, such as vehicle maintenance scheduling.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and local transportation routes.
- Ability to operate GPS tracking and fleet management systems.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit for lifting and handling goods as needed.
