Logistics Project Manager
Position Overview
A Logistics Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing logistics and supply chain projects to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. The role involves coordinating with internal departments, suppliers, transporters, and clients to achieve project objectives within scope and budget.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
Allocate resources effectively (manpower, transport, warehouse, equipment)
Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are met
2. Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
Oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities
Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
Ensure smooth import/export operations and compliance with regulations
Manage inventory movement and optimize supply chain processes
3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Liaise with clients, internal departments, and external partners
Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements with vendors
Ensure vendor performance meets service level agreements (SLAs)
Maintain strong business relationships
4. Budget & Cost Control
Prepare and manage project budgets
Monitor logistics costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
Ensure projects are completed within approved financial limits
5. Risk Management & Compliance
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations
Maintain proper documentation for audits and reporting
6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery timelines, cost efficiency, and service quality
Prepare regular progress and performance reports for management
Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
7. Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead cross-functional teams including warehouse, transport, and procurement staff
Assign tasks and monitor team performance
Provide training and guidance to improve team capabilities
