Position Overview

We are seeking a highly disciplined and analytical Logistics Operations Specialist to oversee the seamless execution of our end-to-end supply chain. In this role, you will be responsible for synchronising international and domestic freight movements, ensuring that operational efficiency is maintained alongside rigorous cost control. The successful candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and the ability to navigate the complexities of modern global trade.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Manage and monitor daily inbound and outbound freight across road, sea, and air networks to ensure strict adherence to delivery schedules.

  • Carrier Management: Act as the primary point of contact for third-party logistics (3PL) providers, conducting regular performance reviews and ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are consistently met.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all shipping documentation-including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, and Certificates of Origin-complies with UK and international customs regulations.

  • Strategic Optimisation: Analyse existing transport routes and carrier tariffs to identify opportunities for lead-time reduction and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Inventory Liaison: Collaborate closely with the Warehouse and Procurement departments to manage stock flow and prevent delivery bottlenecks.

  • Issue Resolution: Proactively manage transit delays or logistical discrepancies, implementing corrective actions to mitigate impact on the end customer.

Candidate Requirements

  • Professional Experience: Proven track record in a logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain role within a fast-moving environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced command of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (such as SAP or Oracle) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

  • Analytical Skills: Strong numerical literacy with the ability to interpret complex data sets to drive informed decision-making.

  • Communication: Exceptional professional correspondence skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with external partners and report to senior management.

  • Education: A degree in Logistics, International Trade, or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent professional qualifications (e.g., CILT).
