Litigation Associate (NQ 2 PQE)

Our client is a growing local law firm seeking a driven and meticulous Associate (NQ –2 PQE) to join their growing practice.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Drafting & Writing

• Draft foundational pleadings, including claims, defenses, counterclaims, and reply submissions.
• Prepare court applications, interim injunctions, affidavits, formal written arguments, and client update letters.
• Formulate discovery requests, interrogatories, and responses.

Legal Research & Strategy

• Conduct detailed legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and procedural rules.
• Prepare structured legal opinions, case summaries, and risk assessment memos for partners and clients.
• Monitor emerging legal trends and judicial developments relevant to active contentious matters

Court Appearance & Representation

• Represent clients in interlocutory applications, directions, case management conferences, and minor hearings.
• Act as second chair in trial proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as an operational point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on case progression.
• Communicate with court registries, experts, process servers, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

• NQ to 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in dispute resolution or commercial litigation.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical thinking, and statutory interpretation.
• Ability to prioritize under tight deadlines, high attention to detail, and sound commercial judgment.
