Linux Engineer

About the role

This role requires extensive familiarity with Linux operating systems and may involve a high level of risk assessment and user support..

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Systems Administration

• At least 5 years of enterprise experience in planning, implementing and administering Linux and Unix Servers systems in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of the different file systems format (CIFS, NFS, SAN/NAS level, and CAS)
• Backup recovery, Clustering and DR
• Experienced in programming with shell scripting and coding
• Assisting, troubleshooting and guiding users with any issues
• Strong problem research and resolution skills
• Performance monitoring and tuning background
• Strong background knowledge of Linux security

Preferred Skill Requirements:

• Knowledge of the Enterprise Architecture standards
• Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Life Cycle methodology
• Able to work effectively in diverse environments with troubleshooting skills including areas such as storage, OS, patches, routing and switching networks
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, where use of and building multiple skill sets concurrently is required
• Exceptional intrapersonal and verbal/written communication skills
• Experience in Container Technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes will be and added advantage
• Experience with automation tools like Puppet or Ansible.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of high‑availability or clustering technologies.
• Certifications such as:
• RHCSA / RHCE
• Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE)
• AWS/Azure cloud certifications
