REPORTS TO: Student Services Director
JOB GOAL: To lead and manage the ICS Library, ensuring it is an engaging, inclusive, and resource-rich environment that supports students, faculty, and parents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring a smooth operation of the Library:
Maintain all aspects of the library, including books, library management system (Follett AccessIt), periodicals, and equipment.
Ensure consistent library access for students during school operating hours (7:30 am - 4:30 pm)
Manage circulation, including check-out, check-in, and shelving of books
Send out automated overdue notices and collect fines as needed
Purchase new books, materials, and supplies for the library within the budgeted amount
Create new accounts for patrons as needed, including students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Curate quality, diverse, inclusive, and relevant resources, both print and digital, that support the school mission, curriculum, and learners interests.
Develop and maintain an environment that is inviting, safe, flexible, collaborative, inclusive, and conducive to learning.
Support whole school and divisional events and initiatives with library displays, suggested reading lists, flexible seating designs, and resource alignment, which optimize student discovery and help students reach curriculum goals.
Participate in the school's resource suitability determination process when library materials are challenged.
Supervise all library volunteers, both parents and students.
Update the Library Standards of Operating Procedure (SOPs) yearly.
Providing students, staff, and families with library services:
Assist students, staff, and families in finding books and resources.
Assist teachers in finding books and materials in specific subject areas.
Schedule library usage time for all classes as needed.
Assist students with printing.
Support the Accelerated Reading Program in collaboration with the Elementary Principal.
Supervise middle and high school students who use the library as a quiet study area before school and during the lunch break.
Textbook Management:
Coordinate ordering, cataloging, and distribution of textbooks and workbooks.
Maintain accurate records in Follett, including barcoding and inventory updates.
Oversee check-in/check-out processes throughout the year.
Communicate with families regarding missing or damaged materials.
Other Responsibilities:
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree
Proficiency with library management systems, preferably Follett AccessIt or any industry standard Library Management System.
Exemplify strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, integrity, and a student-centered mindset.
Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, open-mindedness, dignity, and consideration.
