Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our dynamic legal team in Singapore. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with regional legal professionals, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of in-house legal operations, contract management, and legal research.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Support:

  • Assist the regional Head of Legal and a team of lawyers in Singapore supporting the Southeast Asia & Pacific Rim (SEAPR) business units.
  • Gain experience in reviewing, and proofreading contracts, franchise disclosure documents and compliance forms, as well as assisting in first drafts of contracts, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal memoranda, and provide updates on assigned legal issues.
  • Assist with company secretarial duties, including drafting minutes, board resolutions, and related documents and coordinating to get corporate documents signed.
  • Collaborate with the legal team on knowledge management initiatives and create training materials.

2. Documentation and Systems Management:

  • Review and verify corporate documents, including land titles and deal-related materials, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage document archives, ensuring accurate indexing and retrieval.
  • Utilize tools such as Salesforce Lightening, MS Teams, and other practice management software for tracking approvals, updating profiles, and securely storing documents.
  • Prepare deal-related memoranda and track approvals through relevant systems.

3. Coordination and Liaison:

  • Liaise with internal company development and operations teams to clarify and obtain necessary documentation and information needed for legal matters.
  • Support internal and external meetings by preparing materials, booking venues, and managing logistics.

4. Reporting and Special Projects:

  • Prepare deal tracking and litigation reports, both manually and using system-generated data.
  • Create execution checklists for projects, tracking outstanding items and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc tasks, including preparation for legal proceedings or industry events.

Candidate Profile:

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a law degree or diploma in a recognized university, polytechnic, or external program. Preference for candidates enrolled in programs based in Singapore, the UK, or the Commonwealth.

Experience:

  • Prior work experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional other Asian languages a bonus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other practice management systems is preferred.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with a proactive approach and a sense of urgency.
