We are partnering with a leading global commodities trading platform with a significant presence across APAC. As part of its continued growth, the business is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to support its regional trading and financing activities.
This is a high-impact role within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment, offering exposure to complex cross-border transactions across energy, metals, and bulk commodities markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key legal advisor to the business across APAC, supporting day-to-day trading and financing activities
- Provide transactional support on structured trade finance matters, including prepayments, banking facilities, and sale & purchase agreements
- Advise on regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions, including financial regulatory considerations impacting trading activities
- Identify legal and commercial risks, and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice to stakeholders
- Work closely with commercial, risk, and finance teams to support deal execution under tight timelines
- Liaise with and manage external counsel where required
- Contribute to the broader global legal team and foster strong internal relationships across functions
- Support internal training initiatives on legal and compliance matters
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer (UK, Singapore, Australia, or New Zealand) with circa 7+ PQE
- Strong grounding in banking & finance, structured trade finance, or commodities-related work
- Prior in-house experience within a trading house or similar commercial environment is advantageous
- Exposure to cross-border transactions and multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks
- Commercially minded, with the ability to deliver clear and pragmatic advice in a fast-moving environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
