Legal Counsel (In House, Tech)
Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Legal Associate with 1-2 years of experience to join our legal team. This role will focus on providing legal support, conducting research, and assisting with corporate structuring matters across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic environment, has a strong foundation in corporate law, and demonstrates initiative in problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Structuring:
- Assist in the formation and restructuring of the company's legal entities to support operational and strategic goals in the gaming industry.
Legal Research & Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive research on corporate laws, emerging regulatory frameworks, and legal precedents affecting the gaming industry both domestically and internationally.
- Analyze legal impacts related to gaming operations, such as licensing, content regulations, and intellectual property rights.
Regulatory Compliance & Support:
- Monitor and interpret legal developments and regulatory changes that influence the gaming and digital entertainment sectors.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to ensure adherence to relevant gaming regulations and compliance requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare internal memorandums, legal opinions, and summary reports for management and stakeholders, highlighting key findings and strategic recommendations.
- Maintain and organize corporate legal records, ensuring that all documentation is current, accurate, and compliant with industry standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Liaise with various departments (e.g., business development, marketing, and product teams) to ensure legal considerations are integrated into company operations and new initiatives.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities and external legal experts on matters affecting the company's corporate and operational structures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) admission to practice preferred.
- 1-2 years of relevant legal experience, ideally with exposure to corporate law and regulatory research.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in the gaming or digital entertainment industry is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and legal research skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, contracts, and company policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working either at a law firm or in-house legal department supporting gaming, tech, or digital entertainment companies.
- Prior U.S. exposure-either through education or work experience-is strongly preferred, due to the relevance of U.S. regulatory, corporate, and business practices.
- Familiarity with the regulatory landscape specific to gaming, such as digital rights management, content licensing, and data privacy regulations.
- Exposure to international corporate structuring issues or cross-border compliance.
- An understanding of intellectual property law as it applies to gaming content and software.
