Job Description

About Aglaia

Aglaia Family Office Pte Ltd (Aglaia) is an established, independent multi-family office headquartered in Singapore. We look after ultra-high-net-worth families, trusts, foundations and private investors around the world. Aglaia is licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Our team of around 35 professionals spans investments, operations, legal and relationship management. Between us, we cover the full family-office mandate: investment analysis and asset allocation, treasury and risk management, wealth-transfer and succession planning, governance and family-meeting support, entity and transaction structuring.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially minded lawyer to join our Singapore-based legal and compliance team, reporting directly to the General Counsel. You will work alongside our existing legal team and partner closely with the General Counsel and Aglaia's senior leadership across the firm's legal and regulatory matters. The work is varied and hands-on - chiefly assessing investments, advising the families we serve on regulatory questions, instructing external counsel and drafting the firm's policies and internal guidance, with the occasional M&A or financing transaction along the way.

Where outside counsel is engaged, you will instruct and manage them efficiently. The result is broad exposure and a direct line to the people making the decisions.

What you'll do

  • Carry out legal assessments and due diligence on prospective investments and advise on the structuring of asset-holding vehicles (e.g. VCC) and their capital structures.
  • Advise the families we serve and the wider business on regulatory questions, and provide practical, day-to-day legal support across the multi-family office.
  • Instruct, manage and supervise local and international external counsel.
  • Draft the firm's policies, internal memoranda, guidelines and legal templates, and help put in place best practices across the firm.
  • Build out and maintain the firm's compliance and corporate-governance framework, including KYC/AML processes and regulatory-suitability requirements. Support the Compliance and Due Diligence Officer function, where needed.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, with particular attention to cross-border agreements.
  • Help design and implement the firm's risk-management systems alongside the legal team.
  • Support M&A and financing transactions as and when they arise from time to time.
  • Take on other matters and special projects as directed by the General Counsel.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following traits:

  • A qualified lawyer with a strong academic record and 5-10 years PQE, gained in private practice and/or in-house, with strength in investment work, regulatory advice and commercial contracts exposure to M&A, financing and disputes is welcome.
  • Admission to the Singapore Bar and familiarity with Singapore law preferred.
  • A conscientious and meticulous approach, working accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Experience in assessing, structuring, and documenting investments, including private equity and venture transactions.
  • Sound working knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong written and spoken communication, sharp problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage several matters simultaneously. Ability to work well in cross functional teams.
  • A genuine trusted-advisor mindset: commercial judgement, integrity and discretion, with the confidence to speak up.
  • The ability to work independently and to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach and the adaptability to thrive in a demanding, fast-moving environment.

What we offer

A broad and senior mandate, direct access to leadership, and the chance to work on sophisticated cross-border matters for some of the world's most substantial families -alongside a competitive remuneration package.
