Job Description
We are seeking a qualified legal professional to join as our second in-house counsel. This role offers broad exposure to the legal and commercial aspects of a major petrochemical business and provides the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse range of matters from an early stage.
Job Description:
• Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Provide legal support to business functions on day-to-day commercial and operational matters.
• Assist with corporate secretarial matters, including board and shareholder documentation.
• Support compliance initiatives relating to anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, data protection and corporate governance.
• Assist with the development of internal policies, procedures, legal templates and guidance materials.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and support implementation of regulatory requirements across the business.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda and training materials.
• Work closely with the Legal Manager and provide support on special projects and other legal matters as required.
Requirements:
• LLB degree from a recognized university with admission to practice law.
• 1-4 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
• Strong drafting, negotiation and issue-spotting skills.
• Practical and commercially minded approach to problem solving.
• Eagerness to learn and develop in a broad in-house legal role.
• Experience and knowledge in the following would be an advantage,
o Prior in-house legal experience
o Corporate Secretarial experience and familiarity with Singapore Companies Act
o Experience in the energy, petrochemical, commodities, manufacturing, shipping or logistics sectors.
o Familiarity with global sanctions regimes, anti-money laundering regulations, anti-bribery/corruption laws, and data protection frameworks
