Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Legal Department, you will undertake the following responsibilities:

• Provision of timely, practical and commercially-sound legal advice to business units within IPOS to support their projects or work activities, or value-add to their business or policy objectives.
• Provision of advice to the IP registries on IP legislation and practices assisting with law reform in areas of IP and emerging technologies and the translation of the policies of the IP Registries or other business units within IPOS into legislation
• Representation of Singapore for IP issues in international agreements and diplomatic conferences, including formulating policy positions, conduct of negotiations, drafting and rendering of advice provision of IP legal support and representation to IPOS and other government agencies in an international or regional fora, bilateral exchanges and any bilateral or WTO dispute involving IP elements and translation of international IP commitments into legislation.
• Provide advice to other government agencies on IP policies and practices.

Requirements

• A recognised law degree.
• Between 2-4 years relevant working experience and called to the Singapore Bar.
• Experience in government or a public agency is preferred.
• Familiarity with the law, policies and practices in at least one key practice area of IP law, such as Patents, Designs or Copyright.
• Analytical, independent and self-motivated.
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
