Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and strengthen compliance governance for global business operations, covering areas such as commercial contracts, data protection and privacy, consumer protection, marketing and advertising regulations, human resources compliance, and corporate governance.
- Lead the end‑to‑end management of commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and maintaining complex, multi‑jurisdictional agreements, as well as developing and maintaining standard contract templates.
- Lead or support data protection and privacy compliance initiatives, including the development and implementation of privacy policies, cross‑border data transfer mechanisms, incident response processes for data breaches, and user rights management frameworks.
- Monitor regulatory developments across key jurisdictions relevant to the company's operations, interpret applicable laws and regulations, and translate regulatory requirements into practical compliance strategies and risk mitigation measures.
- Lead or provide legal and compliance support for strategic initiatives, including intellectual property structuring, implementation of compliance management systems, and legal and compliance due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
- Establish and maintain a compliance monitoring and reporting framework, providing regular updates and risk assessments to business stakeholders and senior management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders as well as external advisors and auditors to conduct compliance audits, address audit findings, and drive continuous process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree or higher in Law, International Business Law, International Economic Law, or a related disciplinary field.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in legal and compliance roles involving international or cross‑border business operations, gained within multinational corporations, large technology‑driven organisations, or professional advisory environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting compliance matters across multiple regulatory jurisdictions, such as Asia‑Pacific, the European Union, the United States, and other international markets relevant to the business.
- Strong capability in independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts involving multiple jurisdictions and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English as a working language. Chinese language proficiency is required to review legal documents and communicate effectively with business partners, regulators, or stakeholders where Mandarin Chinese is used.
- Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical, business‑oriented solutions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work effectively across functions and cultures, and engage with senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of additional languages (e.g. French or others) would be an advantage.
