- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal agreements entered into by the Great Eastern group of companies (both life and insurance business), with a focus on IT and AI‑related agreements and initiatives (local and cross-border), including software licences, SaaS agreements, AI vendor contracts, system implementation, technology outsourcing, cloud services, and emerging AI‑related use cases ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and industry best practices.
- Support the development, review and revision of insurance products such as Accident & Health insurance products, including policy wordings, endorsements, marketing materials, and distribution documentation, in collaboration with product, marketing, and compliance teams.
- Draft, review and provide legal advice on agency incentive schemes, commission structures, and remuneration frameworks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal governance standards.
- Advise on litigation and disputes, instructing external counsel where required, and manage internal reporting obligations on cases such as:
- agency disputes, including disciplinary matters, termination issues, remuneration disputes, and conflicts arising from agency agreements, incentive schemes, or regulatory breaches, working closely with business and compliance teams.
- claims‑related disputes, including coverage interpretation, policy liability issues, complaints escalation, and litigation support.
- Monitor and keep abreast of regulatory developments, legal trends, and emerging risks relevant to technology, AI, insurance distribution, and claims handling, and proactively highlight potential legal and compliance issues to stakeholders.
- Possess a law degree from a reputable university and are called to the Singapore Bar;
- Have at least 3-5 years PQE at a law firm or as in-house counsel, preferably with insurance experience. Experience in drafting/negotiating IT contracts and/or general corporate/commercial/litigation experience will be considered an advantage;
- Agile to changing demands and short timelines, depending on business needs;
- Resourceful, possess strong inter-personal skills and able to work closely with business units to enable commercial objectives within a robust legal framework;
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work, and has a good attitude on teamwork; and
- Able to work independently, with initiative to drive improvements and enhance existing processes.
