Our client, a globally recognised financial institution, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance division. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of derivative and structured transactions, with exposure to asset-backed products and commodities.
Key Responsibilities of this Legal Counsel Derivatives & Structured Transactions:
- Provide legal support on complex structured transactions, including secured hedging arrangements, structured notes, and bespoke derivatives
- Advise on product development initiatives and market expansion, including regulatory analysis and documentation strategy
- Review and negotiate trading agreements, confirmations, and access arrangements for new trading venues
- Track and interpret regulatory developments impacting derivatives and structured products across jurisdictions
- Handle a range of legal queries, including service agreements, NDAs, and broker documentation
- Collaborate with international legal teams to support cross-border business activities
Requirements of this Legal Counsel Derivatives & Structured Transactions:
- Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience in derivatives and structured finance
- Strong grasp of trading documentation and regulatory frameworks
- Legal qualification from a major financial jurisdiction
- Exposure to commodities markets is advantageous but not essential
- Commercially astute with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
