Job Description
- Deliver legally sound and commercially practical advice on all aspects of physical commodity trading, including contentious and non-contentious matters.
- Provide comprehensive legal support for day-to-day operations, including:Sales contract queries, payment disputes, defaultsDrafting bespoke charterparty clausesHandling hire disputes, laytime/demurrage issues, and P&I-related mattersStructure, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g., offtake and tolling agreements, long-term supply contracts, chartering arrangements).
- Manage arbitration (LMAA, GAFTA, FOSFA, RSA/SAL) and litigation across multiple jurisdictions, including coordination with external counsel.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Legal Counsel should have:
- Qualified solicitor under English law or other common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum 4 post-qualification experience.
- Preferably with strong background in international trade and dry shipping law experience in commodities trading is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Team player with a proactive and independent work style
